Heiko Wiechern

International Representative
Western Canada Region & Mainline Pipeline

Heiko P. Wiechern was re-elected unanimously at the 40th General Convention in August 2021 to the role of International Representative assigned to the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon Territories, and Mainline Pipeline. He sits as an alternate on the GPMC/NMC Council of Canada. Brother Wiechern also sits as a Trustee on the Canadian Training Fund, along with being a trustee on the National Pipeline Training and Pension Fund, which is part of his active duties as International Representative.

Brother Wiechern was elected unanimously to the position of International Representative at the 39th General Convention in 2016. He had been selected to act as Sergeant-at-Arms at the 38th General Convention in 2011.

Before being elected International Representative, Brother Wiechern had been Business Manager of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 254, Winnipeg, MB, since his election in 2007. During that time, he served on the Executive Board of the Manitoba Building Trades Council, Allied Hydro Council, and the Manitoba Federation of Labour Council, where he became President for both Manitoba Building Trades and Allied Hydro Council committees, serving from 2011 until December 2016.

Brother Wiechern has held many supervisory positions on a number of the larger projects in Manitoba. He had been taking on these supervisory roles until June 2007, when he became Business Manager of local 254.

Brother Wiechern was initiated into Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 254 in April 1987 as an apprentice plumber. In 1991, he completed his apprenticeship as a journeyman Red Seal plumber.
