Greg Mitchell

International Representative
Ontario, Power Sector & National Sprinkler Industry

Greg Mitchell was elected unanimously to the position of International Representative at the 40th General Convention in August 2021. He will continue to be responsible for Ontario, the power sector, and sprinkler industry in Canada. Brother Mitchell had been appointed International Representative by General President Mark McManus on June 1, 2021. Before this appointment, Greg Mitchell had been a Special Representative, assigned to the province of Ontario since January 1, 2019.

Brother Mitchell was elected as Business Manager/Financial Secretary-Treasurer of Sprinkler Fitters Local 853 in Toronto, ON, in 2006, a post he held until becoming a Special Representative. In 2001, he was elected as Business Agent for Local 853, a position he served in until he was elected Business Manager. In 1994, he was elected to his local union's Executive Board, and he was appointed to the JATC in 1990. Greg Mitchell represented his local and the UA on various committees, including the Sprinkler Fitters Advisory Committee to the General President, the International Pipe Trades Joint Training Committee, as Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Toronto and Central Building Trades, as Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Ontario Pipe Trades Council for many years, and as Chairman of the Sergeant-at-Arms Committee for the 39th General Convention in 2016.

He graduated from the UA Instructor Training Program in 1996 and was appointed Local 853's Training Coordinator in 1996. He has served as the National Sprinkler Fitters JATC Training Coordinator for Canada.

Brother Mitchell was initiated into Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 853, Toronto, ON, in 1988.
