We are proud to announce the UA Canada National Wellness Program, including some firsts in the construction trades in Canada! There are several programs, including the National Member Assistance (MAP) Program, which provides you and members of your family with immediate and confidential help for any work, health or life concern. Help is available anytime and anywhere, and is completely confidential. Learn more about the program by clicking here.
Understanding your Member Assistance Program (MAP) provided by the UA Canada National Wellness Program
Your MAP is a confidential and voluntary support service that can help you take the first step toward change. Let us help you find solutions to the challenges you face at any age and stage of life. You and your immediate family members (spouse and dependent children) can access immediate and confidential support in a way that is most suited to your preferences, comfort level and lifestyle.
There is no cost to you or your family to use your MAP. This benefit is provided to you by the UA Canada National Wellness Program. Your MAP can provide a series of sessions with a professional and if you need more specialized or longer-term support, our team of experts can suggest an appropriate specialist or service that is best suited to your needs. While fees for these additional services are your responsibility, a portion of those expenses may be covered by your Local Health & Welfare plan.
Your MAP is completely confidential within the limits of the law. No one, including the Directors of the UA Canada National Wellness Program, will ever know that you have used the program unless you choose to tell them.
Access your plan 24/7 by phone, web or mobile app.
The UA Canada National Wellness Program also includes the Parental Wellness Program, consisting of the Parental Wellness Benefit and the Maternity & Parental EI Assistance Benefits for eligible members.
The Parental Wellness Benefit provides financial assistance to UA members who are pregnant while working in the trades and working in an environment that poses a risk to both the mother and unborn child. This fund will allow a pregnant member to take paid time off prior to the birth of her child without having to exhaust her federal government employment insurance maternity/parental benefits.
The Parental and Maternity EI Assistance Benefits provide a supplementary top up that will assist families financially while they are off work caring for their children during their first year of life. This top up will work in conjunction with EI Maternity Benefits and/or EI Parental Benefits, allowing the mother and/or father to stay at home, creating a family bond unburdened by financial loss that can come with taking paternity and maternity leave.
