UA Launches new Member's Website
December 23, 2012

The UA has launched a new members’ website, where you, our members, can share information and give us feedback whenever you like. Also, you’ll find us on Facebook and Twitter so you can share your ideas, stories and successes there too. Check out stories featuring hockey legend Mark Messier and a member from UA Local 488, how UA Local 463 supports a camp for military families and how UA Local 221 feels the Spirit of Sir John A.

The UA believes that the youth of today are our future and as such is a major support of Skills Canada.
The next skills Canada event will be in Toronto June 4, 5, 6

Ever wonder what a Steamfitter does? Our members are some of the highest paid workers in Canada with Steamfitter-Pipefitter being the number one demand for trades workers in the energy sector in the next ten years and beyond.
Come to see our display and talk to our people to experience what other trades we represent and see what a Plumber, HVACR Technician, Welder, and Quality Control Technician does, and we’ll let you in on the kind of future you could have with our organization in one of these trades careers. We will also have an event that will give you an idea of what a Steamfitter-Pipefitter does, which will be part of the Skills Canada competition in the future. Come and see us at the UA Canada booth.

UA Local 179 completes 5 Million man-hours!

Last year, the skilled tradesmen of UA Local 179 in Saskatchewan completed five million man-hours for all the pipe trades combined – resulting in the second highest number of man-hours worked in Canada.

In an article in January’s UA Journal, Local 179’s leadership is described as “motivated and progressive, with an assertive Business Manager in Troy Knipple and a skilled Business Agent in Bill Peters.  They are supported by an excellent team of agents and office professionals that ensure UA Local 179 operates efficiently and productively.” to read more click here.
